Hi guys!

So here’s the deal, I’m overweight. And I’m not just saying that, it’s a legitimate statement. My BMI for my height + weight is so disproportionate. I’m not going to go into all the medical stuff, but the point is that I have decided to do something about it.

Lately, I have just been slacking when it comes to my diet that I’ve allowed it linger around for much too long. And I’m ready to part ways with my bad habits…
Follow me on Instagram for daily fitness, health, and inspirational updates. Here on the blog, I plan to post weekly updates on my diet, healthy recipes, and health-related on achieving a healthy lifestyle.

What am I doing about it?
This past weekend I started a personal fitness challenge, called #iamGlorgetsfit. My ultimate goal for the next six months to a year is to eat healthier, work out often, and to make better choices so that I can improve my overall health. (Notice I didn’t say anything about looking better).

So far, Week 1….

I’m feeling great; I went on a 3 miles run/hike over the weekend, been walking 45 minutes every day during my lunch break, and I’ve also been packing healthy lunches and snacks.

The most important part of the weight loss process is realizing that you have some work to do. Don’t focus on the work, focus on your journey and goal. If you focus on your journey you’ll learn things about yourself, especially things that trigger stress and emotional eating. I’m an emotional eater so I have learned to be hyper-aware about the people, situations, and things that drives me to stuff my face.

Staying focus on my goal is an important part of my weight loss journey. I have identified two important goals: eat healthier and workout frequently. For me, these two goals are crucial because my life is full of activities, planning, schedules, meetings, deadlines, etc. Being an emotional eater, I need to watch what I put in my mouth, and most importantly when. Being aware of the situations that triggers your eating will help you improve your eating habits.

Staying focus for me is not just about what I put in my mouth and when, but it also has to be extremely healthy, too. Like, say I’m craving carbs or sweets, I don’t deprive myself. I go for what I crave, but I crave lightly by limiting my portions. Or better yet finding a healthier versions of my food cravings and allowing myself to indulge.

Lastly, exercising self control is another way that I stay focus on my goal. For example, few weeks ago, I went to a lunch meeting with my coworkers to an Irish Restaurant. I knew I’d be faced with so many choices, so what I did was look at the menu online ahead of time to see what healthy choices they had. This saved me from making an emotional decision to order based on what the others ordered or how hungry I was feeling. (Peer pressure is real, my friends even for us adults).

Next time, I’ll tell you how I’ll be tracking my progress, and I’m also working on a post on the importance of doing this one thing that could essentially change the way you think. (Hint it’s what you do or don’t do at night). Stay tuned, follow, and share your own tips, comments, or questions below. And please share with others needing a a little encouragement. We’re all in it together.

Thanks for reading!

Happy Flashback Friday and 7-Eleven Day, everyone!

Today I’m sharing with you pictures from last year that time when I covered a wall in my master with glossy magazine pages. You may have seen it as backdrop for a few OOTD posts. This was a such a fun, yet tedious DIY project. It took me a couple of weeks to cover the wall mostly because I kept taking breaks in between. This was my alternative to your traditional wallpaper. It serves as an inspirational board, too. Glossy fashion magazine ad campaigns are works of art, in my opinion, so why not have it display where I can enjoy ‘em every day!

And how cute are my little models? I can’t believe how big Aria has gotten since then. And my Jolie is a year older. Man they grow up so fast!

If you’re interested in creating your magazine wallpaper art, it’s super easy. 1. Tear out pages of your favorite fashion ad campaigns from your favorite glossies
2. Using clear 3M tape, tape your pages onto a wall of your choice in any order–it doesn’t have to be perfect–organized chaos
3. Get inspired, enjoy!

Using clear tape means no damage to walls when you take it down. My daughter used to like to tear them off, but now she like pointing out different objects or colors.

I cannot believe it is mid July already. We’re halfway through the year, if you can believe it. Oh, and guess what? There’s a birthday every month starting this month through the end of year. It’s kind of exciting, and it means Aria and I will be busy crafting personalized messages for everyone. So stay tuned…

I hope you all have a fantastic start to the weekend. Happy Friday!

Hello, Dolls!

I love accessories, but sometimes….most of the times, you’ll find me wearing nada in the accessories department. Especially in the summer, it just feels too hot to have them on. I love my arm candy, but sometimes, I love keeping it simple. And that’s why sometimes, you’ll see my outfit post without some bling. But you know what you’ll always see me wearing? CONFIDENCE! It never goes out of style, in my opinion.

These sandals are from way back when I was 21-years-old working as a model in the Midwest. I recently rediscovered them as I was going through my boxes at my pops. I am just so happy they fit post-pregnancy. One of the permanent changes I’ve gone through post pregnancy is that my shoe size went up from a 10 to 11 or 12 (depending on the brand).

Anyway, I am SO into black and white this summer. It’s my go-to, classic look combo–perfect for work and play. I absolutely love these shorts. I bought them from Target, and I love that I can wear it high-waisted or below the waist and still look great. With the humidity here in DC, I plan on living in them all summer long!

Til next post, fashion lovers!

Weekend Recap: 4th of July 2014

Sunbathing, park + playground shenanigans, bff birthday party, movies, swimming+splashing around in the pool, watched movies, shopping…these are all things we got into this past weekend. Needless to say we were both so exhausted we couldn’t even make out to see the fireworks this year. Aria was so exhausted she was out before bedtime.

No lie, shopping was kinda a challenge because all she wanted to do was run around the entire store. You know, one of these days I’ll take her to the store and let her run around just for the heck of it! Lol, I mean seriously…. It’s funny now but it wasn’t then. Life with a toddler is full of surprises and laughs, I just go along with it all.

This past weekend was truly one for books. It was fun, exciting, stress-free, and certainly fun of laughter and happiness and love. I mean every day I’m always bonding w/Aria, but I always feel extra special + loved when she walks up behind me when I’m in the kitchen or doing something like applying my makeup and gives me what I call “a leg hug”. Or, walking up to me and giving me a kiss just because.

Another awesome thing she does with me is sing-along to our favorite band, Kings of Leon. Yup, that’s right I said KoL! This is probably one of my favorite, favorite thing. KoL has been a part of her life going back to days before she was born, so I guess you can say it’s in her blood.

Overall, fantastic weekend. I hope you all had a great weekend, too!
